Why I Should Stay Away From Greenhills...

So I leave the guys thinking "I'll pay my bills and go home...". After about an hour in line at two different banks, the exhaustion of being awake for 24 hours leaves me and I decide resolutely, "MAYBE I will go buy that red, no black, psp! (or maybe not)"

After walking around for two hours and finding out that the stalls in the back DO NOT sell shit cheaper and have warranties that are worth shit, I decide to go back to the first store I went into and settled for a boring silver one (reds are expensive and the dickhead in front of me bought the last black one). Free firmware upgrades and games go a long way for a poor bastard without a computer.

So I'm waiting for my PSP to get loaded and besides saying to myself earlier, "I will NOT go to the toystores..." I go to the toystores. Guess what I find.

Iron Man Movie series 1 set of 6 for P4100. Cheaper than SRP at Toy Kingdom and with an Iron Monger, a Mark 1 and a Mark 2. I said to myself, "SHEEET!" After much back and forth, "I'll buy it", "I can't!, "But I must!", I decide, "Yes, I must or I will kick myself in the ass when I'm forking over 2k for the Monger in a month or so.

That's how I spent 15k in 1 day. That's right boys and girls. 15k.

Can you say, "Ouch."

EDIT (09/26/2012): Nice to know that 15k still feels like a lot to me, despite 4 years of inflation.

Where have all the Iron Men gone?

So I thought that if I went to one of these toy launches, I might actually score a whole set for once without all the hassle of running each toy in a series down while avoiding scalpers.

No such luck.

I was there when the bloody mall opened and couldn't have been there a minute after the first guy. Still, every single Mark1, Mark2, Stealth Operations, and Iron Monger were gone from the shelves. No luck at either TK Express or TK Podium either.

All I got were these two red ones, which is all any TK has now. Whole mess of peg warmers for the next 3 months or so. What the hell is wrong with the toy industry. Why pack the ones everyone is after with a 1 to 3 ratio with the one NO ONE wants?

Stupid people.

And if you're wondering, these are now where near as good as the old Toy Biz ones. I'm growing to hate Hasbro just like all the fanboys who've been prognosticating their demise. Quality control this time is the suck. There's a ton of splashed paints, crooked joints, etc. The plastics are really rubbery. The joints are all soft and feel like they're about to come apart (especially the itty-bitty wrist joints). Parts (shoulder pads) literally fly off. An what the hell is up with the right hand? What kind of super hero poses include a limp finger?

Sigh.

Still getting the rest though. It's just a question of how much and how long I can hold out.

I am the Omega

I used to have Omega Supreme when I was a kid. It can be argued that he was better than all the other combiners/super robots combined. He could walk, he would break apart into 3 different vehicles and he had so many itty-bitty parts that you couldn't help but lose something within days of buying him.

It was like lego and transformers together again for the first time.

Anyway, I got tired of the limited posebility of the old toys and gave him to a friend (I'm sure all the toy collectors here are salivating and asking why they don't have friends like me).

Now looking at this picture of a pristine, complete Omega Supreme... I kinda want to get one.

DANBOARD!

I've got 1/5 of my gestalt Danboard. Don't say I don't a have goals!

Anyway, if you haven't got one of these, go and find one. Yes, he's a kid dressed in a box. But you wouldn't believe the detail on this sucker. You can see the box construction and the seams! The flaps are even curved, not perfectly flat. The light up eyes make him that much better.

Got mine for 1k from Pat. Great deal! Gotta buy more Revoltech stuff. It's the perfect balance of sculpt and articulation.
